CAMP FROST

A PERFECT BLEND OF FUN & LEARNING

Environmental Science
  Participate in environmental research projects with our research partners from the University of Guelph's Department of Environmental Biology
 
Visual Arts
  Learn arts techniques in painting, print-making, digital photography and pottery from some of Haliburton's top teaching artists
 
Water Sports
  Get expert instruction in sailing, canoeing, kayaking and life-saving swimming
 
Ontario Secondary School Credits
  Campers who meet program requirements can earn a credit toward an Ontario secondary school diploma. Available credits include Environmental Science (SNC3M), Visual Arts (AVI3M) as well as an inter-disciplinary credit (IDC3O).
 
ESL (English As A Second Language)
  The Frost Centre Institute offers an optional ESL program (1 to 3 hours per day of English instruction) which is fully intergrated with our Environmental Science, Visual Arts and Water Sports curriculum.

FCI's summer camp offers a full curriculum of environmental science,visual arts and non-motorized water sports for boys and girls aged 10 to 16. The environmental science program includes lecture/lab sessions along with field work and participation in real environmental research projects under the leadership of our resident and guest scientists. The visual arts program includes digital photography, oil and water painting, pottery and other topics presented by some of Haliburton's top artists. The non-motorized water sports program includes life-saving swimming, kayaking, canoeing and sailing. FCI also has its own Scuba Diving School so that campers aged 14 or older can obtain their PADI open water scuba diving certification (an extra fee applies to this optional program).

A Counselor-in-training program is available for campers aged 15 and 16. The Frost Centre Institute is a validated private school authorized by the Ontario Ministry of Education to issue credits toward an Ontario secondary school diploma. Campers who meet the program requirements and stay for 4 weeks or more may have the opportunity to earn an Ontario secondary school credit in environmental science (SNC3M) or in visual arts (AVI3M) or an inter-disciplinary credit (IDC30).

Camper accommodations are in lodge-type buildings with 2 or 3 Campers per bedroom. A total of four 2-week sessions are offered each year. The first session in 2009 starts on June 28th.

    Session 2 July 12 to July 25
   
    Session 3 July 26 to August 8
   
    Session 4 August 9 to August 22

    SUMMER CAMP FEES:
Summer camp fees are $960 CDN per week, all inclusive, for all sessions. Applicable taxes (5% GST and 3% PST). The optional SCUBA program is not included in camp fees.

   
    SUMMER CAMP CAPACITY:
In order to provide an ideal environment for our campers and instructors, we limit our enrollment to 200 campers per session.

   
    TRANSPORTATION:
Transportation from (and back to) Toronto is available for each session, upon request. Additional charges apply ($60 for one-way or $100 both ways). Please contact our staff for details.

   
    Campers shoulp plan to arrive Noon - 2:00PM on arrival day and be picked up 9:30AM - 11:30AM on departure day."
