The Frost Centre Institute intends to set aside at least 10% of its Summer Camp enrollment capacity for sponsored boys and girls aged 10 to 16 whose parents or guardians cannot afford the camp fees, beginning with the 2008 FCI Summer Camp season. Thanks to the generosity of our corporate sponsors, these kids will be invited to spend 2 weeks at our world-class educational Summer Camp at no charge. Our confidentiality policy will ensure that our sponsored campers are undistinguishable from any other campers. Sponsored enrollments will be available in Summer Camp sessions 2 through 5. Nomination Process In April of each year, the FCI Advisory Board will meet to review all sponsorship nominations that were received by the March 31st deadline. If the number of nominations exceeds the enrollment capacity set aside for sponsorships, the Board will make its selection based on the information provided in the nomination forms. Selected nominees will receive a formal letter of invitation to the FCI Summer Camp. A separate letter will be sent to the nominating party, regardless of whether or not their nominee was selected. Once the invitation has been accepted, a registration confirmation package will be sent to the camper's parents/guardian, identical to the packages that are sent to all other registered campers. If an invitation is declined, an invitation will be sent to the next nominee on a queue established by the Advisory Board. Nominations that are not selected in any given year can be re-submitted in subsequent years, provided that the nominee is still within the required age group. Environmental Science Seminars (for Ontario Schools) Transportation Sponsorship Program The Frost Centre Institute offers free Environmental Science Seminars to Ontario schools during 35 weekends each year. The Centre provides program instruction, accommodation and meals to all students who attend the seminars and to the supervisory teachers and/or parents who accompany them. Bus transportation to and from the Frost Centre Institute is the responsibility of the schools. However, thanks to the generosity of our Corporate Sponsors, a fund has been established to assist schools in covering the cost of transportation. |
